What is Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ, or just jiu jitsu) revolves around the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend him/herself against a larger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution, taking the fight to the ground and using a number of holds and submissions to defeat them. BJJ training can be used for both sport grappling and self defense situations. BJJ can also be used as a method of promoting physical fitness, building character, and as a healthy way of life.

To train Jiu Jitsu, you need to have a training partner to practice with, so you spend a lot of time with the other students in your class. By creating a bond of trust and reciprocation, you and your grappling partner can then practice various techniques on each other and see what works or does not. This martial art cannot be learned based solely on the use of punching bags or paddles. Members at Moxie Jiu Jitsu become friends and help each other refine their skills and reach our goals as a team.
